I've been using something called ( ) to get virtual surround on my headphones, and for it to work fully, you need proper 7.1 channel support on your audio device through windows. In the CRU zip file, run "restart64.exe", this will restart your graphics driver, and now you should be able to go to your your windows playback devices settings and configure speakers and set your monitor's speaker setup to 7.1, without needing actual 7.1 speakers or the hardware to do it Select 8(7.1) in the channels drop down and click OK on all the windows till CRU closes. Select and edit "Audio formats", edit the format that says "2 channels" on the side, for me it was just LPCM with 2 channels. In the ( ) section, select and edit "Speaker setup", select "7.1" at the bottom and press OK.
In the ( ) section, double click on whatever the first slot is, for me it's CEA-861.
